Samsung optical drives – Form and functionality combined
Computers are as much a part of our life today as cell phones, since every organisation relies on them to create processes that work smoothly, and ensure that the entire chain of business runs properly. Even for home users, browsing the internet, checking emails, watching movies, listening to songs, playing games, and so many more activities are possible only because of a computer. However, it's not just about the machine, but also about the accessories that make it complete, one of the being an optical drive. In its basic essence, an optical drive refers to a device that allows the computer to read compact discs. These could be containing movies, songs, be in different formats (CD/DVD) and so on.
Samsung, the world leader in consumer electronics, has developed a wide range of optical drives for home as well as office users to read and write CDs/DVDs for a multitude of purposes. The first benefit they offer is that one does not have to purchase separate drives for reading and writing. A combo drive does the trick with superb efficiency, without costing too much, banking on Samsung's promise of value for money with the highest standards of quality. This also means that there are lesser accessories that need to be plugged in to a computer or laptop (this might not seem so significant, but when it comes to travelling, the lesser one carries, the better it is).
The best thing about Samsung optical drives is that they have technologies created to make them truly e-co products, i.e., without using material for production that can harm the human body, like Pb, Cd, Cr+6, Hg, PBBs and PBDE. Not only does this mean that children can be a lot more safe around this product, but even after one has disposed these drives after some years, they would not leave too much of a carbon imprint and thus, would not harm the environment.
Another unique benefit of optical drives from Samsung is that users can select from the maximum speed mode and the low noise mode to suit the requirement and the PC environment. According to industry experts, the low noise mode is best for minimising disc damage, thus prolonging the life of the CD or DVD. Samsung optical drives also support Mount rainier, which facilitates native OS support of data storage on a rewritable disc. The major advantage of such a provision is that it's easier to use the disc as a replacement of the floppy. The way this is made possible is through a defect management functionality in the drive, done through making the drive 2k addressable via the usage of background formatting and standardising physical and common set layout.
The SAUSUNG buffer under run reduces the chances of data writing error during situations when the writing speed of the drive is faster than the data transfer speed, to ensure robust and reliable writing, all the while allowing the user to multitask on the PC. Lastly, Samsung optical drives have automatic ball balancing, which makes the ball move to the opposite direction of the centre of mass to compensate for the mass imbalance of the disc. The user can also load an ABS device on the turntable of the drive to reduce vibrations and noise.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Help with turntable drive belt?
I am really dumb. I bought a new turntable and didn't read the instructions. I didn't realize I had to pull the drive belt over the mechanism so when I opened it, I just let the rubber belt go back under the top spinner.
Now I don't know how to get under the turner so I can get my belt back!
Help?
Answer:
Usually turntables have a removable rubber mat that the record sits on. The metal platter, itself, would tend to scratch or damage the record. Lift off the rubber mat. At the spindle, there is probably a C-clip, or maybe it's an E-clip. Either way, it's a rounded clip with an opening on one side, and fits into a groove on the spindle. You can use any small tool to pry the clip loose, but MAKE SURE you've covered some way to keep the clip from flying across the room, never to be found again. Otherwise you'll realize why they're also called JESUS clips (from the usual expression uttered by victims of suddenly lost clips).
Once the clip is removed, the metal platter can then be lifted over the spindle, revealing all the items under it, including your belt. By replacing the platter and, at the same time, adjusting the belt around the platter, you can get your functionality back again. Replace the clip and the rubber mat, and you're back in operation.
